Chinese Blue Hawthorne Plate, Early 18th century

Today it has been raining all day so I found some indoor activities in updating my Objet d'Art photo gallery which resulted in photographing some art and antique objects. I found this plate to be quite attactive with it's plum blossoms and ice blue background. I don't know why it's called a Hawthorne plate because it is a highly stylized plum blossom design, but that's the way it is described in the standard reference materials.

The gallery and its updates can be found at http://www.pbase.com/hjsteed/art_objects .
