For the last couple of days, I've been working on a new photo gallery of the Jefferson Market Courthouse and Garden in Greenwich Village. It's now been set up at http://www.pbase.com/hjsteed/jefferson_market_courthouse.
Yesterday, I visited the garden to get some more photos and found it closed due to recent rains. I saw the lily pond through the fence and noticed some water lilies in bloom. So I went back this afternoon and found this yellow crowned night heron waiting for its photo closeup. No one seemed to know how it found its way to 6th Avenue and West 10th Street.
By the way, there were three water lilies in full bloom, two lavender and one white one. They are lovely. Unfortunately, I couldn't get a good shot of the white one, but the lavender ones turned out quite nice, especially one with a dragon fly. I'll be posting them at the Jefferson gallery and the Greenwich Village Flower Gallery. A preview is at http://www.pbase.com/image/31955381.
