My early European wanderings





This gallery contains scans from slides and film of my travels through Europe in the 1970s, 80s and early 90s. Many of the travels were excursions during my study time at Utrecht University, organised by faculty and by the student organisation VUGS. These took me to Switzerland, Hungary, Spain, Yugoslavia, Poland, Scotland, Ireland, Norway and Sweden. These journeys combined serious and in-depth knowledge sharing about the history and geography of the regions with lots of high-spirited fun and chat. The quality of the slides and film has deteriorated considerably over the years, slides worse so than the negatives. With much of the colour gone, it seemed wise to convert most of the images to B&W. The gallery will continue to grow as I rummage the attic.

Fabulous gallery - loved going down memory lane and seeing Europe as it used to be when I was young. There are also some classic photos in here - Farewell II was superb. I was very interested in Krakow square which was an almost identical shot to the last one on my gallery I took at Christmas - interesting to see the difference!! Very entertaining - huge vote!!!

He Jeroen. Waar ben je aan begonnen?! Er zitten inderdaad hele mooie, sfeervolle beelden van vroeger tussen, maar wat een werk. Heb zelf recent ook een scanner gekocht met het idee een dergelijk project te starten, maar de hoeveelheid tijd die dat kost houdt me nog even tegen. Dit is wel een moitivator, zeg! Ik kom regelmatig even terug.
