Damas

Damas is a small town on the Khoiratta-Mirpur road. Damas was the site chosen for the plant nursery back in the 1960s when the AJK government propogated a programme of plantation. Find it on Google Earth (you must have Google Earth installed)

i am shammi , all my family live at or around kalyaah, parents home is near mehda town, my late uncle mehdadullah was well known for his tea shop, town was named after him , not been back for few years , love looking at the photos thankyou brother Gharib Hanif, family is from west yorkshire , i live in sheffield it be nice to hear from you if u knew my uncle or my family.. sameanbu@googlemail.com

hi all my family comes from kalyaah / mehda town which is named after my late uncle who passed away, not been back for few years it's kool seeing the photos , most of my family is based in west Yorkshire I myself live with my family in sheffield, it be nice to hear from those who knew my uncle/ family

Excellent pictures. I am UK born from Peterborough but family roots are from bal damas. The place is beautiful and the locals are lovely. I've been very lucky to visit back home a number of times and although a lot of my family have moved to the capital i still feel at home when im i'n damas. I did not reliase there was loads of People from damas living in the UK. Good work and can you get more pictures of how it is of today. I have family who own businesses in the bazaar so would be good to see that and see if things have changed.

I also come from Damas but it is situated at Dist Ghizer of Gilgit Baltistan. I wish some one could also add some pics of my beautiful village as presently I am quite far away.The people of Damas are hardworking,very friendly and most brave.
