Shanghai, population 23,000,000, is the most modern, cleanest, and efficient large city I have ever seen. While there are some old, ramshackle neighborhoods they are rapidly being replaced by gleaming new high rises. The people seem to be not only willing, but anxious to trade up from their old dwellings.
This shot was taken across the Huangpu River from the "Bund", a historic district formerly occupied by foreign merchant enterprises during the semi-colonial period of Chinese history prior to WWII.
