The Phnom Penh Municipal Police, under the leadership of Lieutenant General Chuon Narin, has initiated the deployment of a mobile patrol team tasked with assessing the blood alcohol levels of drivers throughout the city. This strategic decision aims to mitigate and control traffic accidents, many of which are attributed to intoxicated drivers.
In a recent interview with local media, Lieutenant General Narin disclosed that the mobile patrol team would operate without a fixed schedule or predetermined locations. The police will intervene and conduct immediate alcohol tests on drivers exhibiting suspicious driving behaviour.
Lieutenant General Chuon Narin announced the establishment of a mobile police unit tasked with conducting inspections on any individuals whom the authorities suspect might be under the influence of alcohol, regardless of whether they are traversing designated enforcement zones.
Lieutenant General Narin emphasised that citizens’ active participation is critical to preventing and reducing traffic accidents. Furthermore, law enforcement agencies will persist in their efforts to disseminate educational information regarding traffic regulations, aiming to enhance public awareness and understanding of the laws and thereby foster a stronger commitment to compliance among citizens.
