Herbert, it seems like I always visit your galleries when I don't have enough time to spend. I'm coming back tonight and sit a spell. You have some wonderful images here.

Yep, I have lens envy with this too.

Wow! This must have been an interesting meeting. I'm fascinated by that lens.

Michael is the guy who helped you identify the plover? Nice shot & very impressive lens!

Aber die Dinger sind unheimlich schwer...
Tröstet das ein wenig?
Michael Todd Thorpe07-Jan-2005 05:20
Lense envy is right!

:-) Herb you don't need lens envy.... all your shots are fabulous. I don't think I'd be strong enough for a lens like that... I know I'd never trust myself on the beach with it. I can just pisture it plunking right over into the sand. Cool you guys could meet up... Great portrait!

I'm green with envy, more than green, I'm turning purple.
Dawn06-Jan-2005 05:49
Lens Envy over here too! Very cool you guys could meet up! ;)

Heheh that's a big lens!!
Karen Stuebing05-Jan-2005 11:48
Now, that's a lens! Great candid. Nice to meet him.
Guest 05-Jan-2005 10:50
it's the person in the background, waiting patiently for you guys to quit messing
around and take the shot so they can get on with their seaside stroll without wandering into shot, who I feel sorry for! LOL!
Saskia 05-Jan-2005 08:54
Oh wow, that lens!! It's huge!!
Pepe Zyman05-Jan-2005 06:45
He is holding it in case Herb wants to still the lense!
uofmtiger05-Jan-2005 06:20
Looks like over-compensation to me! LOL..
Can you tell that I am jealous?
Guest 05-Jan-2005 05:40
Wow, I think we'd all get lens envy at that. Nice shot of him.
Dave Wyman05-Jan-2005 04:54
Does he have a license to use that lens in public?!? (My own f4.5 500 glass lens has been mothballed - I had the license, it was just too heavy to cart around.)
Robin Reid05-Jan-2005 04:14
@Michael I'm glad you met Herb... he is a good buddy of mine. And your work is terrific. Glad you enjoyed your time here.. you got some excellent shots, and I'll be you taught Herb many names of the birds. LOL.

And Herb, does this mean you are now going to buy the big lens? ;-)
Guest 04-Jan-2005 18:18
Hoooo!!! This is a great Lens! Alas too much expensive. :-((
Michael Gehrisch04-Jan-2005 17:36
After months of swapping comments on Pbase it was a real pleasure meeting you Herb. Your marvelous galleries have given me climate envy ;-) The lens is just an equalizer. During our three week vacation in San Diego I have photographed about 100 different species of birds, something that took me over six months in Sweden. You live about as close to paradise as it gets! Keep up the great work!
Gary Blanchette04-Jan-2005 16:45
Wow!
Zak04-Jan-2005 15:15
its a whopper!
Guest 04-Jan-2005 15:02
What a monster lens.
