House fire close to home

On Saturday morning, a fire broke out in a house on the next block up from us, drawing a massive response from the DC Fire Department, EMS and police as well as the National Guard. As can be seen in the photo, there were three hook and ladder trucks on the scene, along with some 20-30 official vehicles, including police cruisers, ambulances and all kinds of fire trucks, parked for blocks around the area. Nobody was injured, but a man and his dog are now homeless and are being helped by the Red Cross. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.

Happy together, posted earlier:

Quite the response! Drama/tragedy in the neighborhood. A great candid capture.

Wow, good documentary shot. Fire is so terrifying, but I am relieved the dog and the man were rescued. This is not a situation anyone wants to be in.

Sad they lost their home but it good they are finding shelter together.

Well that would have given everyone a scare. Poor man and his dog to be homeless.

A frightening thing to happen. Hope they discover the cause. V

I'm glad that no one was injured. Hope the man and his dog will be able to return home after it's fixed. I'm also glad your house was not affected. Thanks for reporting with this well taken photo. ~VVVV~
