Ice-pile building competition?

Another view of the piles of ice in our alley, left by the Department of Public Works when they plowed the alley. The mound in the distance is far larger than the one close up. Temperatures are expected to reach the 40s on Wednesday, so hopefully all the ice around will start melting.

Compliments of the DC government, posted earlier:

It will take more than a few days to melt. Better slowly or you’ll have deep puddles.

A lot of snow to be removed or just to melt down. V.

Strange to see so much snow piled high in the city.

Going to take a while for that to melt down. V

Oh dear such big piles Helen…it comes quickly but takes ages to disappear…even with a couple of days sunshine our garden is still solid ice…and it’s forecast snow again Thursday and Friday…Hope yours begins to melt in your 40 degrees…BV

Judging by this photo, it's a lot cleaner than my area. Your alley is as wide as our side streets, but in your alley, where there are no heaps of ice or snow, there's nothing on the ground. We still have the whole street lined with ice, snow pile, black ice or slushy ice created by the cars when they forcefully crushed over to park there, very dirty and slippery. ~VVVV~

That's rough. It's so dense and compacted it will take a while to melt away.
