Queenie is heartbroken that Mary, the Treat Lady, hasn’t been to the park since at least when the snowstorm hit, almost two weeks ago. I can understand why Mary has been staying home: It’s been around 7-12 F in the early morning, plus having to navigate the snow and ice that still exists in places is just too dangerous.
I don’t have a relevant picture, but Tim said that driving home from work on Constitution Avenue, a main artery crossing the District, was almost impossible last night. He said the city had plowed the street but had piled the snow and ice up in two of the street’s four lanes as well as in some intersections, making it impossible to get off Constitution and causing a traffic nightmare. It’s pretty clear that DC doesn’t know what to do in a disaster like this one.
