Some kind soul dug a path through the ice so people could reach the crosswalk and get across the street.
On Monday, a person who lives on the next block up from us had found a parking place on the street a few houses down from ours that had an ironing board in it, put there by somebody trying to save the space. He moved the space-saver and parked his Jeep there, only to find three tires slashed and destroyed the next day. It’s illegal in the District to save parking spaces like that, but people are desperate to find a place to leave their car since many spaces are taken up by cars that are iced in, with their owners unable to dig them out.
