The only butterfly I’ve seen all summer long, captured in our back garden.

I can definitely comiserate with you regarding the sparsity of butterfly appearances. So very, very sad. I've seen plenty of white ones and skippers, but very few of the larger more colorful species. Maybe I've seen four of them.
