Instead of going back home to finish work like I should have done, we drove by the Tidal Basin on our way back from an appointment in Virginia to get a glimpse of the famed Japanese cherry blossoms, which reached peak bloom on Sunday. It was impossible to park and walk around, so I tried to at least get some drive-by shots of the most loved and popular annual event in Washington. We used to walk around the Tidal Basin every year, but it’s just gotten harder and harder with the huge crowds so have settled for doing our part of the ritual from the car.
