Auckland Harbour

We stopped in New Zealand for a week on our way to our first Foreign Service posting in Canberra, in January 1985. It was a beautiful and interesting country that I wouldn't have minded revisiting, but unfortunately we never got a chance to during our two years in Australia.

It's amazing how different Aukland Harbor looked 40 years ago!!! But I guess the same could be said for many places in the world.

With that unmistakeable profile of the Rangitoto Island volcano as a backdrop. The harbour looks rather low profile compared to how it was when I was there somewhat more recently.
