Jealous Queenie

Andrew comes to walk Queenie, not chat with me, and she was clearly irritated that he was paying attention to me instead of her (plus keeping her waiting). Tim says that when he and Queenie run into another dog, if he pets that other dog, she starts barking, unless the dog’s human is petting her. I didn’t realize that dogs could be jealous and possessive, but she surely is.

I had to chuckle. :-) Jealousy is defintely not limited to humans!

Oh yes, dogs can be very possessive! I've seen that with my grand dog.

She looks impatient: how dare you talk to my human! I meet dogs who don't like their human to pay attention to other dogs, but neither Cleo or my last dog Sasha are/were like that.V

Remnants of Queenie former life. Interesting personality trait. She must have had her old owners' total attention & was encouraged for this sort of behavior. It seems as if she is used to getting whatever she wants when she wants it. It's a good thing she's the only dog in your house.

I've had dogs occasionally get a tiny bit jealous of other dogs in "their own family". Sibling rivalry. It happens in the best of families. That just means more doggy kisses for us from all angles. However, I've never had a dog who got jealous of strangers or strange dogs. Queenie barking at other dogs does seem a bit extreme. As for her jealousy about your dog walker stopping to talk to you, that is strange. Which one of you was she jealous of???

She certainly has bonded with her new family and Andrew is part of the pack. It’s just that she’s the Queen!
