Protest march on Capitol Hill

We were heading down East Capitol Street looking for birds and flowers, but what we encountered instead was a huge protest march from our park to the National Mall. A pastor from another part of the city told us that the march comprised evangelical groups from around the DC-Maryland-Virginia area. We followed along as far as the US Capitol and got some pictures, but didn’t see many birds.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

A good document of this demonstration, Helen but not a lot of social distancing going on though! V

Fantastic! I’m glad people are coming together for this. Hopefully the president will take all this to heart rather divide even further. V

Marching is easy, changing is hard. Let's hope these demonstrations will embolden people to persevere in the long struggle for meaningful change. V

Great to see so much solidarity around the world.

What surprises me the most is that the VAST majority of the people who are demonstrating, are all under 30 years old, more whites than blacks ... it's the future generations, the future leaders someday, that calls for changes. All the while the so much older generations are still in power, the generation differences are striking! Ditto for Hank.

Good to see all colors here! Also glad to see they have their masks on. I know people are worried about covid spreading but I understand their need to change the way things are. V

A Nice image of the demonstration. Hank speaks with words of wisdom. However it is nice to see they wear masks...V.

Its all very frightening in so many ways.... V

They are all wearing masks anyway, maybe slightly reducing the possibility of spreading the COVID-19.

unfortunate timing with the current epidemic complicating gatherings...nevertheless, the message has to get out regarding the often violent discriminatory behaviour against black and Hispanic Americans....well done to those who dare to march...hopefully they remain safe..

They don't satisfy the 30 ft distancing rule now ordered in our county. ~V~

I also have the same concerns as Hank. I sympathize with the protestors but this pandemic isn't going to just fade away.

I have the same concerns as Hank., and support the demonstrations.

Glad you didn't encounter any abuse.

I sympathise and with and support the cause for these, now world-wide, protests; however, in my view they are ill advised during the current pandemic. In fact with politicians participating in many cities, the restrictions in place for covid-19 may now be largely ignored by many as just so much hot air. I pray and hope that in spite of these protests, we will not get a huge second wave of infections.
