Hot pink

I don’t know what these flowers are – they were on an extremely tall stem the next block up, and I thought they were quite striking.

Best to view in "Original" because other versions resized by Pbase are decidedly unsharp.

Hollyhocks, or Rose Trémière in French. A very old flower, in Europe for the past 500 years, especially in England. They come in various colors, dark pink, light pink, white, yellow ... gotta grow them in bunches otherwise the wind will break them, gorgeous alongside a house, a fence ...

Spectacular flowers what ever they are. If they're hollyhocks they're the richest colour I've ever seen - must love the Washington weather. Beautiful photo.

I think these splendid flowers are hollyhock, "roses trémières' in french, or Alcea Rosea. We have these flowers in our garden. They grow abundantly on the "Ile de Ré" - France. V
