Post Diamond Tiara

The Post Diamond Tiara was made in the mid-19th century, set with 1,198 old mine and rose cut diamonds. Once the property of a British noble, the tiara was purchased at auction for the Smithsonian by Marjorie Merriweather Post in 1970.

Interesting that my image is much sharper on my monitor than it appears here, maybe because there is both a large and original version (with the large having been automatically resized). Perhaps looking at it in ORIGINAL would help.

Not only is this stunning jewelry, but it is also beautiful artwork. Well photographed. The image makes me wonder about the history (real life happenings) that this piece has seen.

Beautiful to look at. Makes you wonder who was the original wearer and what happened to her. It is my guess it will never again be worn by a lady. What a shame V

a well wrought piece...must have cost a pretty penny too...odd about image quality though...it seems to diminish with every post..
