Reminders of devastation

The Great Smoky Mountains wildfires of late November 2016 burned some 10,000 acres inside the national park and 6,000 acres in other parts of the area. The fires claimed at least 14 lives and injured 134 and greatly impacted the towns of Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg.

Been there, not done that, posted earlier:

SO dreadful that people perished and were injured during those fires - we're only too familiar fires :(

A wonderful view of the distant mountains Helen, seems to be some regeneration. We have bushfires here in Victoria during the summer months and see the devastation they cause. V

It's amazing how nature recovers from fire. The loss of lives is always sad.

a stirring view over the marvelous mountains...fires are natural in forests, and in some ways beneficial...certainly tragic about the many dead and injured though...

This was such a terrible thing! Nature will fix most of it..

an interesting but sobering panorama; still regrowth seems well on
