This ruby and diamond brooch was on the catalogue cover as well as the poster for the exhibit, which I also photographed since I simply couldn’t get a picture of it the first time we toured the show because the light was just so brilliant on the diamonds. The second visit, I managed to get this. Not great, but a cell phone isn’t the best camera for photographing these kinds of things!
Designed by Van Cleef & Arpels in 1969, it features an invisible mount (serti invisible) for which the Paris jeweler became famous.
One of the main reasons we visited Hillwood was to see this exhibit titled “Spectacular Gems and Jewelry from the Merriweather Post Collection.”
