There were many photographs in the exhibit of Post wearing the pieces on display, but this one of an eagle wearing the historic necklace pictured below, given to Marie-Louise by Napoleon I in 1811, really caught my eye.

One of the main reasons we visited Hillwood was to see this exhibit titled “Spectacular Gems and Jewelry from the Merriweather Post Collection.”

I decided to discretely attempt some shots with my iPhone as a camera would have been far too obvious. Not the right equipment for this kind of thing and the results aren’t very good, but I think it’s important to show some of the items on display since Post was a world-renowned collector of fine jewelry and it was an important part of her life.
