Sahraa’s favorite thing is going for walks with Tim (not me, since I refuse to let her drag me all over Capitol Hill). However lately, it’s not about walking or running or playing, but rather getting attention. She walks up to people who have dogs and plants herself in front of them until they pet her. If she sees somebody coming out of their house, she waits by the gate in the hope of getting petted. When I ask how their walk was, its success is measured by how many people lavished attention on her. It’s not like we don’t pay any attention to her at home!
