Some things never change, thankfully

The same tower as pictured below, taken nine years ago, but set in a totally different surrounding. I was sure I had photographed it in the past, but couldn’t see it in my main Washington gallery http://www.pbase.com/helenpb/washington_dc_a_capital_city&page=all (the reason I’m not keen on doing the entire city again) but managed to find it in my archives.

What a profound difference in this entire area!

Taken in 2007, I found this tower quite impressive then as I do now:

1/200s f/10.0 at 45.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

A well selected POV for this excellent capture. The clarity, perspective, lighting and colors all contribute to making this location seem so vibrant. VV

A nice redevelopment but I agree with Martin that the posters on the brick wall are a shame.

Glad they kept the tower, although it does look rather incongruous there. V

there does seem to have been a bit of development! Also compared to the Saudi stuff, it is pretty stodgy and energy inefficient as well

very nice contrast of architecture styles. So nice it´s still there.V

Interesting changes
In the older shot it has more of a 'prison look with the building in the background
In your recent picture, I do like it with the modern building but it is spoilt with the advertising on its old walls, they should remove this to preserve its character!
