This untitled image by Newsha Tavakolian of Tehran was blown up and situated at the entry/exit of the exhibit. It’s the same photograph as one in her series “Listen,” but minus the imaginary album name (“Don’t Forget This Is Not You”), described as “underscoring the limitations on her freedom.”
I have added a picture (previous) taken at the the entrance to the exhibition that I thought gave a good description of the art on display and is worth reading.
I’d like to thank everybody for their support for the documentation of this powerful photography exhibit. As I’ve said to some Pbase friends, I don’t normally like to take pictures of photographs, but in this case I felt it was such revolutionary work, it should be shared with a wider audience. According to The Washington Post, it has already been shown in Boston, Stanford, California, and Pittsburgh https://www.washingtonpost.com/entertainment/museums/female-photographers-tell-important-stories-in-landmark-exhibition/2016/03/31/b11470c2-f2b9-11e5-a61f-e9c95c06edca_story.html -- an interesting article with all of the images in the exhibit available to see.
