Squeezing the last pieces in

The movers worked today, Friday, the holy day of the week, and managed to finish packing us out and got everything loaded into five lift vans (just barely). We arrived in six lift vans, so that’s an improvement, although we were still 380 pounds overweight from our 7,200-pound allowance, for which we will have to pay ourselves.

The packers were from the Philippines, Nepal and Bangladesh. The Nepalese man and the two Bangladeshis communicated in Hindi, a language of India. This place is just so interesting linguistically!

I’m happy pack out is over, but sad to be in this very empty house, which once looked so beautiful with all our belongings in it. We have one more week of this before we leave, and of course without our car, so picture taking will unfortunately be at a minimum. Good thing I still have a lot of unused pictures in my archives.

I can't imagine the big job unpacking will be. Nice to see Sahraa is keeping an eye on things. V

It must be sad because of all the wonderful experiences you have had in Saudi Arabia.

It is always bittersweet, this moving. I've done it a lot in the past though never to or from such an exotic locale, and know the feelings of being left in an empty house for a few days or so. So now you really know you are leaving, which is sad as it has been such a great journey for those of us who needed our daily fix of your great and fascinating photos.

What a huge undertaking! Something I've never experienced thankfully to that degree. Enjoy the 'clean slate' of your empty house!
