A couple of people asked if I wore kimono while living in Japan, and the answer is I didn’t except on a couple of special occasions. (They are incredibly difficult to put on properly and murder to walk in!) I managed to find a few pictures taken during the same time frame as this gallery, when Tim was consul general in Okinawa. In this one some friends took me to a kimono shop; had I bought it (which I didn’t because they are exorbitantly priced), it would have required some finishing by their tailor.
