The emptiness of the DQ

The Diplomatic Quarter hosts all the foreign diplomatic missions in Riyadh as well as staff and their families along with some of the other foreigners working here, but there are also a large number of Saudis residing on the DQ, considered a desirable place to live in the capital city. Therefore, it’s amazing to me how empty the streets can be on a Saturday afternoon. Granted, the embassies are closed, but you’d think people would be out and about, at least in their air-conditioned cars!

I will catch up with comments soon; I’ve just had a lot of work to do this morning (even though I have a day off from the newspaper). Plus PBase running so slowly for me, it’s incredibly time consuming right now to even comment or respond to comments. Anybody else having this problem? I complained to them, but haven’t heard back yet.

Pbase has been painfully slow and timing out. Very frustrating. It looks eerily empty. Beautiful, but eerie. V

A nice row of palms, and nice clear shot. Reminds me of a military base on an early Sunday morning. V

an amazing contrast to one of my recent photos on a main road at Bondi Beach Sydney. We had up to 90,000 runners in a 5 hours period. ~V~

Cette rue est très belle avec les palmiers.V
