This is the entrance to Dar el-Makhzen, the royal palace, in the Fes el-Jedid, meaning New Fes or White Fes, quarter, which was established in 1276. The king of Morocco stays here when he visits the city, and in fact was visiting the day this picture was taken. I didn’t get to see him, unfortunately.
