I am ending this gallery with the monumental Bab Mansour el-Aleuj (Gate of the Victorious Renegade), named after the Christian who designed and built it. Considered to possibly be the finest gate in all Morocco, its construction was started by Moulay Ismail in 1672 and completed by his son in 1732. It is approximately 16 meters high with an arch spanning eight meters. The gate was located on a very busy street, and capturing it without cars was impossible.
Thanks for all the interest in this small gallery! As I said in the intro, Meknes looked to be a fascinating city, and I only wish we had been able to spend more time there. Next trip, I guess!
