Astrolabe

We spent our last morning in Copenhagen at the Davids Samling museum, also known as The David Collection, to see their famed collection of Islamic art, the largest of its kind in Scandinavia and among the 10 most important in the Western world. I didn’t make notes so can’t identify most of the objects photographed, but it was truly an outstanding exhibition and beautifully displayed. More information can be found on the museum’s site http://www.davidmus.dk/en/collections/islamic

NOTE: I was going to end the gallery here, but since I really don't have much interesting to work on right now, and because I did take a lot of pictures of this great exhibit, have decided to add some more.

Superb image of this instrument which seems to be a nautical astrolabe serving to measure the height of celestial bodies by the Arab navigators. V.

Those old instruments are Always looking very complicated, but I guess our presentday instruments gives us more trouble. Looks like something to calculate the planets or sun perhaps. Great capture
