Our dining-room-table-to-be

Since several people have asked about the dining room table we’re having made from an old Saudi door, this is it. We bought this at a bazaar (so fits in with the shopping theme ;-)) from a company in Dhahran that made another small table for us from a Moroccan window, and did a beautiful job. The door is about 80 years old and is from Qassim, which is known for its architecture. It will be surrounded by a wood frame, recessed and covered with a large sheet of glass. Not as showy as some of the newer or refurbished doors like the one pictured below, but it’s the real thing!

The door is beautiful, Helen. I like it better than the refurbished one; it looks more "real". I'm looking forward to seeing the finished table. V

What a wonderful idea and the carvings are so beautiful on the doors itself, Helen. Looking forward to seeing the finished table! BV

This is a beautiful door and I know the table will be great. Although it isn't as colorful as the other door, the muted colors won't compete with your china. Nice work on the photo! V
