I was trying to photograph the Sharif Gate (below) when right as I pressed the shutter, these two men appeared out of nowhere. I sort of apologized and we started talking, and they asked me to take their picture. Then they wanted to take ours with both of them with their cell phones. Everybody got the shots they wanted, we had a nice time doing it, and we all went on our way.

In the background banner is a photograph of Balad, the old part of Jeddah, which we spent a lot of time exploring. It certainly looks different now than it did then as much of it has been allowed to deteriorate.
