The Dhahran/Dammam/Al Khobar area is on the Gulf, and people often drive this way to spend the weekend in Bahrain, which is just across the causeway. Looking at a map, it appears that Qatar isn’t too far away, either. Kuwait is a bit further north but drivable. I can see that this is a road we’ll travel a lot while here!
