Wedge snowplow engine

This thing was enormous and must be used to plow some serious snow. More information here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wedge_Plow

Helen, this is a great shot of the plow. Here in the states, these were used in cuts, where snow would drift. The wedge plows would be successful about 80% of the time. When they weren't, then the railroad would bring in a rotary or use bulldozer's to clear the cut. These wedge plows would sometimes, break a rail and cause a derailment. I never work a train with these plows. I have worked trains with a much larger plow. Great job. V.
