Dubai, Pearl of the Gulf

These images are from a recent holiday to Dubai with a little over a day in Kuwait for business. All pictures were taken with either a Nikon D200 or a Sony H1. Unfortunately, I discovered some kind of contaminant on the D200 sensor (from cleaning) while there and was unable to use it for most shots. Fortunately, in a last-minute decision I had brought the H1 along, just in case.

As to the name of the Gulf -- I personally have always called it the "Persian Gulf," but in Dubai it's quite clearly called the "Arabian Gulf," thus the reason I used that on the beach picture (since changed to just "Gulf," which I've seen commonly used). Great images. It's amazing how they have converted inhabitable land into one of the most modern places in the world. Voted! Salim PS. I agree with previous comment, it's actually the Persian Gulf. I know many people who are confused as a result of mislabels and can't find it on the map.

The clutural contrast between the men on camels and the skyscrapers is amazing. I imagine that the financial divide is great as well. Good job on the photography, with limited time the shots are really great. Voted : )
