Canyonville, OR
Loggers chopped down a Douglas Fir in Canyonville that had been growing since 1350. Someone felt guilty, nailed an informative sign to the trunk, and built a small roof over the stump. According to a sign nailed to it, the Douglas Fir was 142 years old "when Columbus discovered America." That would make the stump more than 670 years old.
