A chainsaw carving of Charlie Choker, the Grays Harbor College mascot. Charlie stands at the entrance to the college.
Charlie stands 20 feet tall, and was carved from a single, fat cedar log in 1975. The oddly-named mascot is not into strangulation, nor does he mock his teams' performance under pressure. A "choker" is a specialist he-man lumberjack who wraps steel cables around logs so that they can be dragged out of the forest.
