The B.F. Day tile mural is a community art project started in 1995 by a group of parents who wanted an artistic landmark for the Benjamin Franklin Day School. Steve Roach of Aruba Tile was the artist heavily involved with the project. Community tile-making workshops provided the material for the art. After the initial project was completed, succeeding school classes added murals to the wall, which heads east along N. 39th Street.
