The film Napoleon Dynamite, chronicling a few weeks in the life of a high school geek, was released on June 11, 2004 and rapidly became a cult classic. It was shot almost entirely in and around the town of Preston.

The park is where Kip and Lafawnduh first got acquainted, and it is also the setting for Pedro's victory party after winning the election.
