This Indenture made this 29th day of September in the year 1827 between James McCausland by Jacob Shepler his attorney in fact, of the borough of Shippensburg in the County of Cumberland and State of Pennsylvania of the one part and Thomas Walters of the County of Augusta and State of Virginia of the other part, Witnefs that the said James McCausland for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar lawful money of Virginia to him in hand paid by the said Thomas Walters, the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold, and by these present do grant bargain and sell to the said Thomas Walters and his heirs and afsigns forever one certain tract or parcel of land containing two eights part of ten acres lying and being in the County of Rockingham and State of Virginia on the North Side of the North River of the South branch of the Shenandoah, and bounded as follows to wit, Beginning at the mouth of a Gully where it empties into the river and up a long the top of a bank, N 16 W 26 poles to a stake where a Hickory the patent corner formerly stood and with the lines of the same, N44 E38 poles to a pine and Hickory corner to said patent, thence S67 E26 poles to two pines in a line of the land formerly ( ? ) and with the same N53 W42 poles to a pine corner to said land, and with the lines of the same S38 W26 poles to a Pine near Grey's Stable, thence N19 W60 poles to a Walnut, thence S87 W8 poles to a Sycamore on the bank of the River and down the several courses of the same to the beginning being the same land conveyed by Henery and Adam Gray to the same James McCausland together with all and singular the appertenances to have and to hold the said two rights with its appertenances unto the said Thomas Walters and his heirs and afsigns forever to this only higher use and ( ? ) of...
