As we were leaving Black's Harbour in thick fog on the 7am ferry the fishing boats were on their way out too.
By the time we arrived at Grand Manan an hour and a half later the fog had burned off and the lobster boats were busy.
Swallowtail Lighthouse is supposedly one of the most photographed lighthouses in New Brunswick.
From the deck of the ferry on the return trip we noticed this rainbow effect around my shadow and
it's called a "glory". A glory is an optical phenomenon that resembles an iconic
saint's halo about the shadow of the observer's head, caused by light of the sun
interacting with the tiny water droplets that make up mist or clouds. Seen sometimes
when looking out a plane's window at its shadow. I had never seen one before.
