Bill ~ September 20 [8]

New London, Minnesota

I've got to get me one of those hats...

Despite Bill's apparently reproachful glance this is a posed portrait. The color cast is due to having bounced the flash (Nikon SB-600) off the ceiling, with the resulting colors filtering through the hat. (An appropriate fill flash front and center would have offset the color cast.) This is a tough room to shoot on a good day as there are almost always four different light sources present: incandescent, fluorescent, halogen, and natural light streaming through the windows in front. Ordinarily I would have removed the color cast, but in this case I kind of like it as is... (Your tastes may of course vary.)

I couldn't imagine wearing that to my weekly softball game.
...then again.

Great portrait. Love the unique angle, pose and composition. Very interesting. v

What a great juxtaposition between the tom foolery of the umbrella hat, and the sour puss expression on his face. I love how you handled the light.

Nice portrait and a great hat.

I believe the former St.Louis Cardinal baseball player, Lou Brock had something to do with that umbrella hat.
Given the colors in the hat, the color cast looks very appropriate to me.

I love this --the reproachful look and the crazy brolly hat. Well done.

Excellent! ;)

He looks like he's prepared for anything. The hat would keep his camera dry. That's all a person needs!

I'm sure there's a WB setting to cater for the conditions!!!!
Fun shot, excellent use of bounce flash - but only because you told us!

One of those for summer when on Padding expeditions would be perfect :>)) I see the smile in Bill's eyes, he's enjoying this....I like the warmth the colours gave the shot.
