River Life

view map

The thing about the Niger River is that it goes through the Sahara. All
along the banks there are tiny villages like this where fish is the staple diet
and things like clothes are optional. The people move with the level of water
in the river and welcomed us like royal visitors. It's a sight to see and an
experience I would recommend to anyone. Take a pinasse or piroque down the river
and I can guarantee you'll see things you will never forget.
PS: I'll come back to this shot in twenty years and tell you if I forgot.

Taken on the Niger River, a days cruise from Mopti headed towards Timbuktu, Mali.
