Winter has arrived here. We have about 20 cm (8 inches) of snow on the ground. I love Winter, but not quite so early as the snow we have will probably melt over the weekens and make for messy/dirty conditions. In view of this, I thought, why not add some Summer or Spring to Winter for the next week or so.

These are three shots taken at our cottage last July. Normally, we don't see mergansers near our shore, but this family showed up one day, stayed for a few days and dissappeared again. The first shot (above) is of the female adult.


The second shot is of Mom and one of the young.


Third shot: Mom and her young all lined up swimming away. Perhaps this is where the phrase "Getting one's ducks in a row" comes from.
