OSPREY - Recently fledged Osprey in landing mode. Note: the orange eyes compared to yellow for the adults. Two weeks previous, there were two young in the nest and they were not yet flying. Today, we only saw on young one. Perhaps the other, like an independent teen, left the brood early to be out on his/her own? Dad was still bringing home lunch for Mom and the young one. Mom was usually not too far away, keeping and eye out for her young one. The young Osprey left the nest several times whilst we were watching. Each time, it would fly around for a bit, then perch on a nearby tree, then return to the nest. This is shot 1 of 7 in this series of seven shots taken on this date at the Burritts Rapids nest site.
