COMMON LOON. Young of 1st. family of loons. The young loon is estimated to be about 4 weeks old now and is getting quite large. It swims, dives and hunts for food right along with the adults now, though it can't stay under as long, nor swim as far under water. At times the adults both dove, leaving the young loon to swim on top all by itself. Previously, one of the adults would always stay on the surface with the young. The 2nd baby must have met with some dissaster as it was not found in the hour or so that we observed the loons. (Shot 2 of 3)
