Five images of the handicapped Egret foraging for food. Posting #2. For posting #1, click "Next"
Top Image: "Gotcha" One of several catches that I saw the Egret make in a fairly short time. It tossed and banged this one around quite a bit, I believe it was a small catfish with stingers; hence, the Egret seemed to make sure that it was dead before swallowing it.

One final toss to align the fish headfirst in its beak in order to facilitate swallowing it. Note the Egret is still in its breeding attire.

A satisfying brunch, it seems; however, no sooner had it swallowed the catfish, it continued to look for more customers.

Looks like desert has been served. Note, the long stretched-out neck. Also, in this image the footless right leg is exposed.

Time to move on. Because of the missing right foot, the egret uses its wings to facilitate short hops along the perimeter of the bay. Here again, the right foot can be seen to be missing.
In all, the Egret seems to be managing well and holding its own, not allowing others to encroach on its territory.
