20151218 446 440 Mountain Bluebird.jpg

Richmond

A merge of images 440 & 446. In the base image, # 446, the head was totally turned away; hence, I borrowed the head from # 440 as I liked the slight wing spread in image 446. For image 440, see http://www.pbase.com/hankvv/image/162133056

This rare stray visitor to our area has been frequenting this fence-line to search for food for over a week. It was previously found to forage for food along an other fence-line several Km away. Presently, I had been waiting for it to show up for about an hour. It was quite damp-cold and very overcast. I was about to pack it in when the bird suddenly appeared and started foraging for grubs.

It seems you have the second great knack for wildlife photography - patients.
And with payoffs; nice work!
(It's like she landed on a rusted wire, only to spread her blue down the strand.)
