20141118 167 130 Coopers Hawk and Squirrel.jpg

Our yard - through the kitchen window.

As I mentioned in yesterdays posting, the young Cooper's and a young black Squirrel were having a stand-off when suddenly the much smaller Squirrel charged at and surprised the Cooper's, making it jump up/fly on to a branch above it. The Cooper's later returned to the top of the fence, but alas, then there was a black Squirrel posted on each side of it some 2 - 3 meters away. I think, one of the Squirrels may be lunch soon.

I'd wager on the Cooper's, but a larger gray squirrel (at least the size of the ones we have here in Virginia) aren't bothered by Cooper's

Great images to get the two of them in a stare-off. Maybe they're just establishing property rights. ;).

Fabulous shot of the two. The squirrels are understandably trying to shift the unwelcome (to them) visitor!!
