tree planting

On Saturday and Sunday I planted trees in our neighborhood. We had a grant
to plant the green space behind houses along a strip that is going to become
a walking trail. We had 700 tress of varying sizes. I could not dig the holes,
but I was able to carry water from the creek and fill in the holes around the
plants and get terribly dirty. I should have included a picture before my shower.
Someday we will have lovely native trees, grasses and wildflowers of KY. The
grasses and wildflowers come next after the non-native plants are removed. It
is going to be a long-term process, but I am looking forward to looking out and
saying, I helped plant those trees. Our main windows look out on this green area.

They say a butterfly flapping its wings in the Amazon Rainforest can result in a tornado in Texas. Just imagine what planting trees in Kentucky can do?

I think planting trees is one of the most important things we can do. Even when my husband knew his life was coming to an end he insisted I plant a couple of trees for him. They are for today, but also for future generations. It will be wonderful for you to watch these grow. I really like this collage. Well done.
